FINGERPRINT CHRISTMAS TREE 🎄

@iracreativeengine gave me the idea of drawing a simple stick tree onto which B could press her fingerprints to make a beautiful image. The original post used stamp pads, which turned out great, but because B loves finger paint and we have a ton of it, that’s what I opted to use instead. I 💯 recommend this activity, which took almost no time to prep, but be prepared for an outcome you didn’t expect.

For example, my mom was over, saw the tree pictured as the featured image of this post, and complimented Bianca’s art work. B was quick to tell her Aba that that was not her Christmas tree 🎄; it’s mine. 🙋🏻‍♀️ If you’d like to see what B’s actual tree ended up looking like, scroll to the last picture.

This is reality folks. Sometimes an activity turns out EXACTLY as planned, and other times it borders a Pinterest fail. Regardless of the outcome though, rest assured that it’s not a failure. B’s Christmas tree is hanging proudly on our fridge next to mine, and she absolutely loves it. I think she especially loves that we did this activity together.

So many times we focus on what our kiddos “should” be doing, that we forget the point of art as a process and form of self-expression. On this day, I decided to let her do her thing while I parallel played with her. It was really enjoyable, and I’d do it all over again. Pinterest fail? I think not.
