It’s Never JUST Play

Every time I hear someone say that they’re basically paying for school so someone can “just play” with their child, my hair stands on end.  Yes, it offends me.  Why?  Because I have 2 Master’s degrees that qualify me to know HOW to play with children, and what I can accomplish in 30 minutes with a child, the average person may not be able to accomplish in weeks or months.  I don’t insult the chef when my food comes out by saying I could have made it myself, or tell the nail technician that I could have done a better and more efficient job that they did.  Why?  Because it’s not true and it’s insulting. Please consider this when you tell a professional that they’re paid to “just play” with your child.
