LITERACY FUN WITH SHAVING CREAM!

So the last time I did this with littles, I was teaching Pre-K4 @adamerrittk8center in my 20s. It’s clearly been a while, and I also completely overdid it with the amount of shaving cream used. If I had used a palm full to cover the @webergrills pan instead of the exorbitant amount pictured here, it would have been more of a literacy activity than a sensory one. That having been said, I highly recommend the use of a bucket (great idea! @donnavroberts) for the children to wash their hands. And in case you were wondering, I have done this activity indoors and it went well, but for obvious reasons, outside is ideal.

All I did was provide the children with upper and lowercase letter cutouts and placed them in @ziploc bags to protect them. Their job? To “write” the letters in their shaving cream using their fingers. It’s not paper and pencil, but it’s #developmentallyappropriate and a ton of #fun.

If shaving cream isn’t for you, this same activity can be done with sand and sticks. Get creative and have fun with it! No one ever said learning how to read and write had to be boring; quite the opposite.

What’s your favorite literacy activity?
