BUILD YOUR OWN SNOWMAN ☃️: AN INVITATION TO CREATE

When viewing these images, please keep in mind that they’re in reverse order, starting with the final product and ending with the set up. You’ll also notice that there are 2 snowmen even though I only have 1 child.

Recently I’ve started joining B in some art projects for multiple reasons: it’s good bonding time, I enjoy it, and we feed off of each other’s creative ideas. For this particular set up, you’ll notice that I had a variety of materials set out. I imagined she may have wanted to cover her snowman in cotton balls, but instead they were used to paint her snowman in strokes vs. dots (like mine). I also chose to add snowflakes ❄️ around my snowman and give him arms. There was no right or wrong way to do this activity or specific directions to follow (although I’d recommend card stock over construction paper because the mini marshmallows are HEAVY). The only intention was to create a snowman ☃️ and have fun doing it. Mission accomplished.

And because this activity used food items, we also discovered that B likes peppermint flavored marshmallows but not peppermint flavored M&Ms. Who knew? 🤷🏻‍♀️

How do you feel about using food to create art?
