MAKING ART SUPPLIES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST

One of the biggest tasks I have undertaken since I have been home full time is organizing. Seriously, it seemingly has no end. The bright side however, is that things are becoming a whole lot easier to find. And if you’ve ever owned a hodge podge of art supplies, you know how big of a deal this is.

This morning, Bianca took one look at our rolling cart of art supplies and asked to “make something.” I let her pick a few things and I had no idea what the plan was, but it didn’t matter, because she did. Thankfully she requested to make a butterfly, which wasn’t too tough in my drawing skills (or lack thereof). She colored it with markers, placed googly eyes 👀 on it (using “just a little bit” of glue, which she’s gotten really good at due to repeated exposure), added pom poms, as well as a combination of rolled up tissue paper and torn, flat tissue paper. She was so proud of it and couldn’t wait to show @mrleosantos. 🤗

Sometimes, instead of a solid plan, all you need to do is have materials readily available and let your little one explore the possibilities. If you think a picture of my rolling cart or supplies might help you in your home, just say the word.

Also, if you’ve never given a child a piece of tissue paper and helped them tear it into smaller pieces, you’re missing out. It’s is a great way to strengthen the tiny muscles in their hands 🖐 🤚 that they’ll one day use for writing (aka = fine motor skills).

What’s your favorite open-ended art activity with the kiddos?
