MELTING SNOWMEN ⛄️

So because I’ve received two DMs today stating (quite accurately, may I add) that these look like tampons 🤣, let me assure you that they are not. 🙅🏻‍♀️ They’re actually biodegradable packing peanuts purchased in bulk from Amazon. They sell colored ones which are also wonderful, but since we’re studying winter and the arctic, the white ones made more sense. And if you want to simulate a melting snowman ⛄️, they’re perfect.

I painted little faces on them with permanent marker and added warm water. We poured, we played, we observed, and it was pretty cool that they actually dissolved (see last picture).

If you wanted to #adaptmyplay you could draw different emotions on these snowmen and sort them accordingly. You could also further STEM it up by dipping them into colored water and seeing if they absorb it (I’m always up for a good experiment). Sinking and floating experiments also come to mind. If you wanted to make a fine motor activity out of it, simply provide tweezers or chopsticks. 🥢 So many options here if you can just get past the tampon imagery. 🙈

So if you don’t decide to try this at home, hopefully you at least had a good laugh. 😉 I know I did!
