YOU KNOW YOU’RE A TEACHER WHEN…

Your child takes one look at the materials available to her, and decides to create her own activity. Bonus: This one in particular kept her occupied for a good 30 minutes while I prepared breakfast.

“What exactly did she do?” you may ask. She took the tiny colored clothes pins and matched them to the colors of her favorite Paw Patrol friends. Clipping them  on became a fine motor task, matching them became a math concept, and she was SO proud of herself. 🤩 She later declared that she had made costumes for them. 💕 Social-emotional skills were even used when she didn’t have enough of a particular color pin and her pups had to learn to share. The dramatic play was pretty adorable.

I’m sure I’m not alone here. I’d really love it if you shared stories of your adorable yet unexpected child-led play.
